Wrapping a world east to west makes it a cylinder, also wrapping the world north to east makes it a torus. Quite inconvenient if you want to make a "planet like" world. Having a world in the shape of a cube removes curvature but it introduces hard edges. If you were to fold out the cube to make it a completly flat world then it would have edges, which defeats the purpose of a "planet like" world.
How would one seamlessly wrap a cube?
I have seen some make portals like this brackeys video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuQao3hEKfs. However I am worried that this solution would cause alot of lag. Does it?
Also, moving chunks of the world is not an option since it would cause issues for multiple players.
