In the docs it states that one or more of the gameobjects collidingmust use a rigidbody. Character controllers allow a capsule to collide However i want my character controller to be mesh-shaped. Is there any way to accomplish this?

I dont understand the question. Do you want to have a mesh collider and no rigidbody?
do you just want a mesh collider?
I've done some more digging and realised the issue. Is there anyway to add a rigidbody that only checks for collisions but nothing else?
I think you can just add a rigidbody and tick "Is Kinematic".
