I am preparing for a job interview and I have been reading about the STAR interview technique. I understand that it is a method of answering questions that is comprised of four steps from this resource:
Situation: Describe the situation and when it took place.
Task: Explain the task and what was the goal.
Action: Provide details about the action you took to attain this.
Result: Conclude with the result of your action.
I am wondering if you can give me some tips on how to answer STAR interview questions. I am particularly interested in the following:
How do I choose the right situation to talk about?
How much detail should I provide in my answer?
How can I make sure that my answer is relevant to the job I am interviewing for?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
