Hey guys,

I’m thinking about creating a 2d pixel game. The problem is that I only can do some simple photo editing, not painting (on a pc) as it.

So here’s my question:
-Which free program can you recommend for drawing pixel art (I plan to use 64×64 images, photoshop is paid -> not an option for me 🙁 )?
-Are there any tutorials you can recommend (I already watched Brackeys’ tutorials about that theme)?

Thanks in advance!

Aseprite

It may be not for free ($15), but I don’t use anything else.

For Windows, Mac and Linux and available on Steam as well.

You can set Gimp up to work just like photoshop does for pixelart

I use Pixen. It’s for Mac and iOS. It was free for a while but now costs 15 usd.

But I love it. It has everything I need. It also supports animation and very easy to use. If you come from Photoshop it will look familiar and intuitive.
