Scaling model in unity turns black? (Loses materials)

Hi,
I made a first person model in blender but after rigging and everything it’s scaled to big.  So, I tried making it smaller and below happens.  Nothing seems to change to the model after scaling, and the materials are the same on the meshes.  The arms stay the same so why not the rifle?  Thank you for any help.

I’m not sure why exactly. Try making the model a child of another gameobject and scale the parent instead, and if worse comes to worse just rescale it in your modeling program.

Make it a child didn’t work, I’ll try rescaling

So I scaled it down in blender and it came out black.  Then when I scaled it up in game, it had the materials on it.  So I thought it would fix the problem too, but there is something going on.
