Saving a character unlock un unity

I am working on a 2D platformer and I am working on a character unlock system. I have everything working with a coin system to unlock the characters but I can’t seem to find a system for saving when you unlock a character. I am looking for a system that when you unlock a character it saves the unlock so you don’t have to earn the coins again. And I would like to save even when the game is closed and reopened again. I am coding in c#
If anybody has any suggestions that would be great!

Use PlayerPrefs..

PlayerPrefs is the worst form of saving possible within Unity…
