Hey guys so I recently started watching a 2d series on Unity and the code is so confusing a bunch of class references and stuff and it makes no sense to me, like I sorta understand the code but don’t understand why its been done. I have tried to break it down but no luck what should I do if I don’t understand it? I fear if I just blindly follow the series I won’t learn anything.

Stop following series. Try stuff.

As in eventually you’ll probably stop learning from tutorial series so it’s better if you just do it instead.

The reason I am following a series and I know I shouldn’t be. Is just to get a feel for it. I  tried to do it my self and its a mess.

Mistakes will teach you more then a tutorial series can do.

Though the problem is when learning on your own its hard to see if its a mistake or not there is no one to tell you whether its right or not.

That’s easy!
If it works, it’s right. If it doesn’t work, it’s not right.
Of some things you can immediately see if it works. Others sadly not.
That’s why I rewrote my previous game twice and my current game once.

The times that I learned most was when I decided to scrap the old code and think of how to do it better.
You don’t learn by getting things right, but by getting it wrong and fixing it.

Your advice worries me haha, but I read it a few times again and think “if it works its right it just might not be the most effecient way. So good idea is to fix up code afterward like you said.
