My Unity 5 engine doesn’t show the dotted lines that show the outline of buttons/empty objects I create. It’s really hard to follow your Unity tutorial “START MENU in Unity”

when I cannot even see what I am doing. (I’ve had the same problem with buttons and text.)

What do you mean by “empty objects”. Because unity only outlines objects with a renderer or a collider attached to it or its children.

Also there is a setting in gizmos to enable/disable the outline. You may just have it turned off by mistake.

no, I just checked, the gizmo outline settings are fine. In the video tutorial that I linked, you can see what I mean by “Create Empty.”

Ok, I think I know the problem. Are you using the move tools, or the rect tool like he is in the video? That’s whats making the outline and letting him resize it. You can switch to the rect tool by pressing T or by clicking the the little box at the top.
