Is it possible to make a custom GetAxis, and if so, how?

I’m working on a First Person Shooter. Arcadey, but tactical.

In First Person Shooters like Rainbow Six Siege and Battlefield 4, the player can lean to either his left or his right. This can be achieved by making a variable equal to a GetAxis, then rotating the player’s Z axis to said GetAxis.

How (in C#) can I make that GetAxis?

Add the Axis in the Input Settings. If that’s not what you want, be more clear.
