How do I search along a line and “grab” two vertices at once or effectively “grab” a line?

So I have something rather embarassing to share. I started working on a game and got a lot of help from this very subreddit. However when it came time to actually extending the script/code more I hit a wall in my personal abilities.

So I left the project to die but I booted it back up and have the itch to fix it and pick up where I left off. Problem is I’m not sure how to do so.

So here is the script:

Basically what it does is it lets you grab a vertex, move it, and then update the mesh accordingly. It’s hard to explain in words so here is a gfycat link to illustrate it better.

Also please note that this is using 5.3.2f1 because the project didn’t play well with Unity 2017 builds.

So why am I here? I am just trying to get pointed in the right direction to understand how the code works and how I can extend it. Particularly to search along the edge or line to grab multiple vertices at once.
